Abby Phillip (host of NewsNight with Abby Phillip, weeknights at 10pm on CNN) checks in regarding her new book A Dream Deferred, centering on Rev. Jesse Jackson (including his 1984 and 1988 presidential runs). "[Those] campaigns showed America that leadership could look different, that power could be shared, and that more voices deserved to be heard. His movement laid the foundation for the coalitions that define our democracy today," says Phillip.
We also share an update in our partnership with TWR (Trans World Radio), thoughts on Psalm 141:5 with regard to the show, and offer a gift card to those who have (or will today) taken time to vote as an encouragement to participate in that process. Closing out the show is a clip of Apologetix' lead singer & lyricist J. Jackson sharing the story behind "119th Psalm" parody of Duran Duran's "Hungry Like The Wolf."
