Jake Tapper (CNN Anchor & chief Washington correspondent) joins the Tim DeMoss Show today via Zoom regarding his new book Race Against Terror: Chasing an Al Qaeda Killer at the Dawn of the Forever War. The book tells the story of a man fleeing the Arab Spring on a refugee boat who surrenders himself to Italian authorities. He claims that, as a terrorist, he is responsible for the deaths of American soldiers. This unexpected surrender sets off an unlikely chain of events and one of the most significant, but little-known, cases in American history.
Tapper, a Philadelphia native, also makes no secret of his Phillies and Eagles fandom and shares a story about an autographed Larry Bowa cap gifted to him via a character from the sitcom "Happy Days"... :)
Aaron Nola (longtime Philadelphia Phillies starting pitcher) also graciously spends time with us with a look at his baseball career (from Little League until now), as well as his family, faith in the Lord, and charity work (including Team Red, White & Blue which focuses on veterans' health & wellness and the ALS Association (Nola's uncle passed away from ALS several years ago)).
A week ago, Nola closed out a challenging regular season with an 8-inning, 9-strikeout gem, allowing just 2 hits and 1 run in a 3-1 win over Minnesota and moved into 2nd place on the Phillies' pitchers all-time strikeouts list (behind only Phillies legend Steve Carlton).
Our proverbial "cherry on the sundae"-- Now THAT'S Punny--caps off the show.
