Thousands of people gathered on a California beach over the weekend to be baptized as part of a mass-baptism campaign.

The event, titled Movement San Diego 2026, was held at the Oceanside Pier Amphitheater on October 17 as part of a joint effort between Movement San Diego and Baptize The World, with mass open-air baptisms held right by the ocean.

“So many people made the decision to publicly declare their faith in Jesus through baptism, and we’re still celebrating every life changed and every YES to Jesus!” Baptize The World stated on Instagram.

“ALL GLORY TO JESUS! We’ll never be the same!”

The event also included live worship music from groups like Circuit Rider Music and Upper Room, CBN News reported.

Mike Doyle, pastor of the New York City-based Movement Church and founder of Movement San Diego, explained, “The whole heart for the event is we want to see revival in California, and we want to see people come to know the Lord Jesus.”

Pastor Mark Francey of Oceans Church in Irvine, California, initially launched a baptism-centered focus as Baptize SoCal at Pirate’s Cove, which later grew to Baptize California, then Baptize America, and now Baptize The World. The effort has seen thousands of people baptized, including more than 4,000 in 2023 at SoCal's Pirate Cove.

Additionally, more than 12,000 people were baptized across California on Pentecost Sunday in 2024, the largest mass baptism in U.S. history. In 2025, however, more than 28,000 people were baptized on Pentecost Sunday in a synchronized effort between Baptize California and more than 600 churches in the United States, which held 1,000 events.

Earlier this year, the ministry held its first Baptize The World on Pentecost Sunday, during which 19,010 baptisms took place across 49 nations.

“We believe it was an idea God gave us,” Francey told The Christian Post at the time. “To go from Southern California the first year, all of California the next year, America last year, and now the world this year.”

According to Baptize The World’s website, the ministry has seen a grand total of

71,002 baptisms in a joint effort with more than 1,600 churches across 49 nations in 36 months.

Baptize The World is currently scheduled to host its next worldwide synchronized mass baptism with participating churches on Sunday, May 16, 2027.
